Nesting Like a Loon

The summer months are officially over and it's time to stop having fun and get down to business and finally start blogging again.  There's a lot that I want to kind of back-blog, but for now, we will share what has taken over my life lately.  Nesting.  Like a crazy pregnant lady.  I swear I didn't get the urge to nest for a single second when I was pregnant with Damian.  And I was proud of it.  An uncontrollable need to clean and prepare for baby?  Yeah right.  This is LEYAH we're talking about.  But as has been proven recently, the nesting urge can hit even me.

First of all, Damian's room has been turned into a two-kid room.  Which means he moved out of his crib and into a big-boy bed!  The first night after we got the bed, we asked him which bed he wanted: the well-loved crib or the new big-boy bed.  He chose the crib, which was shoved up next to the twin bed as a temporary bed rail, but this is how we found him the next morning.  (The video is pretty dark.  Sorry!)

Second, rearranging Damian's room made me want to rearrange pretty much the entire house.  Picture fat pregnant crazy nesting lady shoving furniture around the living room.  It was exhausting, but I think I'm happy with the results.

Third, I decided to do a couple baby girl projects.  Even though I'm still not totally convinced it's really a girl.  Hopefully it is a girl though, because otherwise, we'll have a baby boy with lots of pink stuff.  Anyway, I found a tutorial online that showed how to do these cute changing pad rolls with a pocket for diapers and wipes.  I made two so that when one gets gross, I won't have to go without until laundry gets done.  (Damian wanted to be in every picture I took this morning of our projects, so he's my male model today.)

As you can also see in that picture, I covered a wipes case with cute stuff to match the changing pad rolls.  I got the idea from my super-creative sister-in-law Jamie, who gave me one when Damian was born.  I've been using that one since the day I got it, and needless to say, it got pretty gross.  Plus it was blue, so I wanted a girly one.  But as I was making the girly one, Damian had his first "I want one too" moment, so I also made him a new one.

Here's a better shot of both of them:

Last but definitely not least, we decided to try canning peaches this year!  We didn't do a ton, since it was our first time, but we are very excited about it nonetheless.  Marty and I got most of the preparation work done while Damian was "napping."  (I don't think he actually fell asleep.  Which is becoming more and more common.  But at least he stays in his room for quiet time.)  Anyway, he emerged from his bedroom just in time for the syrup making process.  Just like him, our little sweet-tooth.  He climbed up on a stool and...

Dug right into the sugar, eating it straight out of the container.  Sheesh.  Who raised this kid?  Anyway, my awesome friend Debbie let us borrow her canner, which prevented me from buying one, doing the canning, and deciding I hated it and never wanted to do it again.  Actually, I didn't hate it and I will be doing it again.  But I could see it going the other way, and I didn't want to risk it.  Marty really wanted to take pictures.  I guess to prove that we really did it all by ourselves.  So here he is, checking on the canner, which was not really necessary at all.  :-)

And finally, the finished product!  We really wanted to break into a jar as soon as they were cooled, but since we could still go and buy some pretty good peaches at this point, we decided that would be silly.  We'll save them for wintertime.  And in his final appearance (for today), my little male model.
